SLDW Book of the MonthThe SLDW Book of the Month selected by Irene O'Day is "The She Spot: Why Women Are the Market for Changing the World...And How to Reach Them" by Lisa Witter, and Lisa Chen. The secret to changing the world is hidden in plain sight. In fact, it's half the population. Women vote more, volunteer more, and give to more charities than men do. They control over half of the total wealth in America. Corporations have long recognized the growing power of women and have been targeting them for years. The She Spot is a practical and provocative primer showing how nonprofits and social change organizations can do it too. Mar 25 - RJ Julia and SLDW Co-sponsor Author-Book Event on Chasing Justice03/25/2008 - 7:00pm 03/25/2008 - 8:30pm Etc/GMT+5 SLDW and RJ Julia sponsored an author-book event on "Chasing Justice" by exonerated death row inmate Kerry Max Cook. The event was held on Tuesday, March 25th at R.J. Julia bookstore in Madison, CT. Kerry Max Cook spoke about his book covering the account of his twenty-two year ordeal behind bars for a crime that he did not commit. His story was portrayed in the play "The Exonerated", staged in New York and later at New Haven’s Shubert Theatre. About the Author Kerry Max Cook was born in Stuttgart, Germany, and spent much of his youth on army bases in Europe. In 1972, he and his family returned to the United States to live in Texas. Since gaining his freedom, Cook has been an outspoken advocate for legal reform. He has made numerous national and international media appearances and has lectured at Princeton, Yale, and the University of Chicago. He was awarded a Soros Justice Fellowship to write Chasing Justice.
